We started riding at 9am from Brest with a 16 degree temperature and little wind. The ride to the first feed stop was more of the same as the last few days. After that, we had to ride through the disorganised bunch containing the French women's team on the way to the 2nd feed stop.
From there, it was still 50km or so to go with two climbs of the Mûr de Bretagne Guerlédan. With about 20km to go, my pump fell off the bike and by the time I retrieved that, the bunch had gone up the road. Not wanting to chase, I rode the rest largely solo. It got interesting with no directional arrows visible for some time. However, there were already large crowds of people up the hill and I ended up in the right place.
Total riding for the day was 193.5km in 7hrs 05m with climbing of 2,437m. To put the climbing into perspective, that is equivalent to over six Te Mata Peak climbs.
With a 122km drive to the hotel, we went straight to another Flunch restaurant for dinner. After devouring their food, we reached the hotel after 8pm. They are not keen on a 6:30am breakfast so we will see what happens.
The computer and mouse had a hernia on the day so photos could only be added later.
