Breakfast at the hotel was another full cooked and continental buffet. We have started eating as though we were riding so will be well fed by the time we start the tour tomorrow.
Next order of the day was to assemble my bike outside. The bike seems to have survived the trip o.k. and went together easily.
A heavy rain shower went through which I managed to miss. The van for the bikes arrived and also one to take the bike bags to Paris as there is not enough room to take them with us.
A team photo of the riders plus support staff was taken.
About 11am we loaded our luggage and were driven to our hotel at Pornic which is closer to tomorrow's start. The hotel was insistent that we could not get our rooms until 2pm so we went to lunch at a restaurant next to the hotel. Service was a little slow and muddled but the food was good. By the time we had finished, the hotel rooms were available. We have single rooms for tonight.
I had my bike checked over by the mechanics and then a few of us went for a short ride to see if everything worked o.k. and was set up correctly. Rain clouds were looming but we stayed dry in the pleasant 21-24 degree temperature.
We covered just over 24km in an hour locally with 171m of climbing as per the map above.
On returning to the hotel, my electronic hotel key refused to work and needed resetting.
I have been unable so far to get my Garmin to load the maps and routes for the tour but will try again here with other hardware and software.
A tour briefing was held at 6pm with breakfast set for 6am tomorrow and a leave the hotel time of 7am to drive to the start which is about 50km away.
Dinner was at the restaurant next door with pizza a popular option. The pork chitterlings (intestines) were sampled with the unanimous decision that they were inedible.
Tomorrow we start to ride the 2018 Tour de France course.
